Drive through the Capital of St. Lucia, Castries and, enjoy a brief discourse on the history of the city and people of St. Lucia. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with illustrations and altarpiece work done by local artiste Dunstan St. Omer. Between 1796 and 1948, four devastating fires destroyed much of the city.
Stop at Morne Fortune for an overlook of the scenic northern side of the island, including the port. Located high on the southern side of Castries, with a spectacular view of town, Castries Harbour, Vigie, and the north of the island.
Catch a glimpse of the Governor’s House. This century old historic Victorian house is the official residence of the Govenor General.
Stop at beautiful Marigot Bay, the site where “Dr. Doolittle” the movie was filmed. This is one of the most secure anchorages in the Caribbean. It is also the setting for the movie Dr. Doolittle, a most attractive natural harbour with its palm-lined sandpit and steep forested hillsides
Drive through a native Banana Plantation, learn about the harvest and history process, and sample St. Lucia local bananas that are smaller in size and sweeter in taste to traditional bananas. After Marigot Bay, the road runs through the Roseau Banana fields, and lush hills.
Drive through the fishing villages of Anse La Raye and Canaries. Enjoy shopping for local crafts and delicacies. The first of two Fishing villages situated in coves heading in a southerly direction; Next, enjoy a scenic drive to Canaries, the second of two Fishing villages is on the way south of the island.
Visit Soufriere, the second largest town and swim in the Diamond Waterfall and soak in the exotic fragrances of the Botanical Garden. The breath-taking waterfall amidst a botanical garden with various tropical flowers and plants. Surrounding the waterfall is a pool where you can either relax or indulge in refreshing cool swim. At this same garden experience, the flora and fauna of the Garden. Enjoy the various nature trails with quaint bridges and walkways as they lead you through the lush greens and dazzling colours of this tropical paradise. The Diamond Botanical Gardens is a favourite location for birdwatching and horticulture.
Enjoy a visit to the Sulphur Springs or take a mud bath at the only drive-in volcano in the Caribbean. Be rejuvenated by the thermal mineral water and volcanic mud bath. This is one in a lifetime opportunity and it involves smearing mud all over the face and body to exfoliate the skin and draw out impurities to make u look years younger. As you approach, your nose will pick up the strong scent of the sulphur springs -- more than 20 belching pools of muddy water, multicolour sulphur deposits, and other assorted minerals baking and steaming on the surface. Actually, you don't drive in. You drive up within a few hundred feet of the gurgling, steaming mass, then walk around a fault in the substratum rock.
View the magnificent Piton Mountains. The Pitons, located in the picturesque southwestern of the island, are a respected symbol of St. Lucia and are the most recognizable landmarks in the Caribbean. The beauty of the pitons, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is unparalleled and creates a dramatic and romantic backdrop to the island. The Pitons were considered sacred to the island's first inhabitants, the Amerindians. The most spectacular are the Gros Piton (2,619 ft) and the Petit Piton (2,461 ft) which are old volcanic forest-clad plugs rising sheer out of the sea near the town of Soufrière on the West coast.
Beach time or just relax on one of St. Lucia’s finest beaches: Hummingbird Beach. situated right in Soufriere with a view of the magnificent Pitons. The tranquil turquoise waters and marvelous setting with the piton in the background is one of the best places on the island to offer the magical experience of beach relaxation. The Hummingbird beach is favoured for, swimming and water sports.
